We recently bought a Mercedes-Benz A 180. We went to the Southampton office on a Sunday checked 2 cars in stock and decided for one. We did a test drive and we talked about numbers since we had a Smart car to trade in its place. There was a lot of back and forth in the negotiation as with every dealership your car is worth nothing but the dealers car is worth every penny. Since our car had Sat Nav, parking sensor and reversing camera among other features we wanted something similar. They agree to fit parking sensors on the car and we will buy the sat Nav module that was not included. They mentioned it will be ready in a few days. We went to pick the car up on Friday and when we got there, the impression was that they were not ready for us, even though the shop was completely empty. They starting to ask for our paperwork and also our service history (which we have full dealer service history) our history is online as with many cars. But just having the Smart car for 3 months we never accessed it. Sparshatts kept asking for a hard copy and theyWere going to reduce the price of our car because we didn't have a hard copy. After more than 1 hour, they were able to get a copy of the service history. (just when we were about to cancel the buy and leave). After finishing with the paperwork we get shown the car to realise they ONLY fitted parking sensors at the REAT and NOT AT THE FRONT as well!!! And we were handed over ONE KEY!!!!!!Disappointed and tired after being at the office for over 2 hours we drove away. There are a couple of issues outstanding with the car at the moment, a sound when breaking at low speed and the rear demist button being hard to push, making it really hard to use it at times since doesn't always come on/off. The car was also given to us with a tyre on really low pressure. We pumped it and after 2 weeks is going down again, so is either the sensor or the tyre.And the last thing is that 2 days ago the airbag sensor went off.NOT IMPRESSED!!!!We are very disappointed at the moment since I bought another car before and I had no problems.EDIT: after talking to the manager of the Southampton branch on 18/01/19 we are on course to rectify these problems
Hubby just waited around for 15 minutes to see a car while 6 staff members milled about doing nothing after saying someone would be with him when they got off the phone. He left without looking at the car and won't be going back. Terrible customer service.
Going to change review from three to five stars. Manager responder to earlier 3* review within 24 hours. Helped to resolve the query that day and had it fully resolved within 7 days (was a fault with rear screen that required replacement). Many thanks to those involved including screen repair team. Good sales service, after sales needs to be improved (no communication)
I had a really positive experience buying my car through Sparshatts Southampton. Rik helped me to find the right car and was knowledgable regarding my concerns with the Southampton clean air zone pending. As a result I bought a car that I love, enjoy driving and is hopefully future proof. I didn't feel pressure to buy and found Rik to be well informed and straight forward to deal with. The car was competitively priced and prepared to a very high standard. I was able to see full details of the service history, HPI and MOT advisories; of which there were none. Overall I can thoroughly recommend Sparshatts Southampton.
Car selection is really good. Happy with the car we bought now we have all the problems sorted. Just a shame issues that had been point out after the test drive were not sorted out before we picked up the car. Then rather than taking it back to Millbrook branch to be fixed had to take it to park gate. Then as they couldn't fix it we kept having to take it to main dealer. No courtesy made available to us. We had to take car back 5 time under its warranty. Very disappointing after service. Issues should have been fixed before we picked the car up especially, as we pointed out the issues.
